In light of the recent acts of desecration to religious spaces and aggression against the members of Al Aqsa Islamic Society, acts which seek to create division among neighbors, the residents of East and South Kensington, Fishtown, and Northern Liberties are showing our unwavering support to our Neighbors and Friends at Al Aqsa Islamic Society.
Join us in support of community, peace, and understanding Saturday December 12, 2015 at 3PM at Al-Aqsa Islamic Society, 1501 Germantown Avenue Philadelphia, PA 19122.
This gathering will be in communion and fellowship to reinforce the common bond we share as neighbors during these times of local, national and international political and religious strife. Celebrating that which is so fundamental to all Americans: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness beyond religion, beyond political affiliation and the power which comes with the freedom to decide such things.
In the portion of the Quran titled “The Night Journey” Muhammad traveled from Mecca to the Masjid al-Aqsa, the farther Temple, located in Jerusalem. In ‘The Night Journey’ it is written: “Your Lord best knows what is in your hearts; he knows if you are good. He will forgive those that turn to him.”
Al Aqsa Islamic Society is open to everyone for the event.
Feel free to bring food and refreshments.
