Election Protection, the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and partner organizations have launched a new smartphone app, “Election Protection,” to mobilize and educate voters about voting. Given the new and changing laws related to voting across the country, the app provides resources for voters and community organizations on the ground. In the upcoming election, voter education will be crucial to ensure that all eligible voters have the information they need to cast a ballot on Election Day. To download the app, visit app.866ourvote.org on your smartphone.
The app provides information like if a voter is registered, when the deadlines are and where a polling place is located. Many precinct lines have been redrawn after the 2010 census, and voters may have a new polling place, even if they’ve voted in the same place for years. For voters in states with online registration, individuals can use the app to register to vote.
“Don’t wait till you get to the polling place to find out if you’re registered,” said Barbara Arnwine of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.
