According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, the states with the lowest DUI rate was (maybe unsurprisingly) Utah, with PA right in the middle of the pack. Mothers Against Drunk Driving also has PA in the middle in terms of percentage of overall traffic deaths related to alcohol.  

But even assuming the ad’s claim was referring to simply all alcohol related deaths, the numbers still don’t add up. A report issued by the Center for Disease Control said that when it came to non-accidental alcohol deaths, such as fatalities caused by cirrhosis or similar illnesses, PA still didn’t have the lowest rate.
