Shore of the Delaware River under the Betsy Ross Bridge

This is a fascinating Philly tale. Once upon a time in the 50s, Temple University bought a cemetery so they could turn it into a parking lot. The cemetery relocated thousands of bodies and their gravestones were used for “rip rap” on the shore of the Delaware River.

Now if you visit this spot on the Delaware, you can still see 20 or so of these gravestones.
