One of the city’s gems is an abandoned railroad line, historically part of the Philadelphia and Reading Railroads’ 9th Street and City Branches. My friend Brian Lim and I got a tour this weekend with Viaduct Greene, an organization advocating for the creation of a linear green space along these branches. I had been to the elevated, Reading branch, but had not yet had the opportunity to wander through the tunnels and corridors that make up the City Branch. Going here without a SEPTA guide (like we had) is, I think, technically trespassing. However, I have never experienced anything like it in the city, and I strongly encourage everyone to check in withViaduct Greene to see their plans, and hopefully get in on the next tour.
